Thomas Berndorfer will be responsible for promoting the adoption of cybersecurity best practices among European SMEs through the "Digital Tools Programme". The program’s main goal is to help companies increase their competitiveness and agility by investing in secure digital solutions, which are essential for fraud prevention, data protection, and reducing operational costs.
SME Connect represents more than 1.2 million companies across the European Union through business associations, monitoring and fostering the development, innovation, and protection of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises – a sector that forms the backbone of Madeira’s economy.
Connecting Software, a software company with its main development hub located in Madeira, employs more than 25 people in the Region and has been developing, for over 20 years, technological solutions used by public and private entities worldwide, with a special focus on high-security sectors such as banking.
The appointment of an entrepreneur connected to Madeira to a prominent European role in cybersecurity reinforces the region’s position as a hub of technological innovation and highlights the contribution of Madeiran companies to the modernisation and protection of Europe’s business fabric. For Thomas Berndorfer, an entrepreneur linked to Madeira since 2017, choosing Madeira as a base was an important and strategic decision for Connecting Software. The company’s growth from two to more than 25 employees on the island, with the ambition to reach 50, confirms its success in the Region.
