The latest statistical data regarding the development of Madeira´s International Business Centre (IBCM) in the first half of 2025 provides a positive outcome and Madeira’s continued ability to position itself competitively in both national and international markets.

By the end of June, a total of 87 new companies had joined the IBCM. During the same period, the Madeira International Shipping Register (MAR)—the fastest-growing sector of the Madeira Business Centre in recent years—registered 137 new vessels.

In addition to the aforementioned quantitative results, it is important to highlight the origin of these new investments in the Madeira International Business Centre, as this reflects its impact on both the internationalisation and diversification of the regional economy.

As a matter of fact, the companies licensed during this first half of the year at the IBCM originate from a total of 25 countries, with 65% coming from Member-states of the European Union, 15% from other European Countries, and 20% from the Rest of the World.

The newly registered companies at the IBCM operate in sectors such as the Rendering of Services, Trading, Telecommunications, E-Business, and Maritime Transportation.

In what regards the types of new vessels registered in MAR, the distribution is as follows: 122 commercial ships and 15 yachts.

Concerning the countries of origin of the new registrations, the commercial vessels came mainly from Norway, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

As of June 30th, a total of 2,770 entities were licensed and registered at the IBCM.
