Luxury, comfort, state of the art technology and navigation stability, are just some of the adjectives that may describe the superyacht Baron Trenck.
Flying the Portuguese flag and registered in MAR, Baron Trenck was recently anchored at the port of Funchal for a few days. It was an opportunity for representatives from S.D.M. and MAR’s Technical Commission, amongst other local entities, to visit the yacht and to confirm that indeed all the expectations raised by specialist publications around this superyacht were fully met.
Launched in 2011, Baron Trenck is the first explorer superyacht built by the Italian shipyard Eurocraft Cantieri Navali. Measuring over 40m, with a bean of 8.20m and a draught of 4.5m, this yacht has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure and a total of 478 gross tonnage.
Baron Trenck is a mixture of the explorer type look with appointments of elegance and comfort, being known for its security and stability, key characteristics for charter yachts that sail around the world. It is considered an ideal yacht for island hopping, due to its incredible stability anchor and its 3m draft, which allows it to enter small bays. Furthermore, its large sundeck can host cocktail parties up to 100 guests for events such as the Monaco Grand Prix or the Cannes Film Festival.
The registration of this and other superyachts in MAR confirms the importance of shipping related activities for the regional economy, not only considering the tax revenues generated from the yacht’s operation but, in a complementary way, the promotion of Madeira as a tourist and business destination.
