This promotional mission will consist of a full week of meetings with consulting companies, renowned law firms and other entities in the above referred cities. The United States has become in recent years one of the most dynamic markets with several projects setting up in Madeira in different sectors of activity. E-business, software development, intellectual property structures and international trading are some of the activities carried out presently in Madeira by companies of US origin, attracted by the direct and indirect low taxation, the EU status of Madeira and also its high quality telecommunications infrastructure. Istanbul
This mission will take place in mid October and will promote MAR – The International Shipping Register of Madeira as well as Madeira’s preferential tax regime as a whole in the city of Istanbul through a programme of meetings with ship owning companies, law firms and tax consultants. This visit will be a follow up of other recent successful promotional missions to Turkey, a country which represents a great potential as a source of investment for Madeira’s International Business Centre and particularly the International Shipping Register-MAR. In fact, Turkey has a large shipping community and Madeira offers not only the possibility of access to European Union waters without restrictions, but also a very attractive package of advantages, both from a tax and operational point of view. The mission will consist of one to one meetings with local practitioners in Zurich, Geneva and Basel. This visit is an update of the most relevant developments of the legal framework of the IBC of Madeira covering the main aspects of its preferential tax regime and highlighting the investment opportunities for specific types of activities, such as international trading activities and holding companies. Our visit to Madrid and Barcelona will be comprised of meetings with local renowned law firms, consultants and other practitioners. As usual, S.D.M. will be joined by some of the management companies based in Madeira which will complement the presentation of the tax and operational advantages of the IBC of Madeira with examples of structures and other practical information. Spain has traditionally been an important source of investment to Madeira, especially in trading and shipping activities, and is presently the 2nd most important market for the IBC of Madeira.  |
